Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Jackson.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

    The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

    Title or Location: LeFleur's Bluff State Park, Jackson, MS
    Prothonotary Warblers just flew into the southern US in April from their wintering grounds in Colombia, South America. They are cavity nesters in trees and will raise four chicks through the summer. In late summer, around August, they and their young will fly back to South America.

    Title or Location: Davis Crockett State Park, TN
    I have been visiting various waterfalls this spring and discovered this lovely little waterfall at Davis Crockett State Park. The park is very peaceful and relaxing. Being somewhat new to TN I am always on the lookout for new places to discover and have an adventure.

    Title or Location: Atlanta, GA
    I was walking through Centennial Park trying out night photos with my 50mm 1.8 lens. As I was walking through the spot I was in the grass underneath a giant led sign caught my attention. The way I saw the grass light up with with the Atlanta Skyline behind it I had to take the photo. When I looked at the photo in the camera it looked amazing but I knew I can bring out some more with editing in Lightroom.

    Title or Location: Ross Barnett Reservoir on Hwy 43
    October 28, 202323mm, ISO 160, F1.8, 1/120We were on a motorcycle ride through the area, looking at campsites, and I noticed the sky and how the sun was setting across the water. We pulled over and I walked to the waters edge to try and capture what I was seeing. Of all the photography I've done over the years Landscapes have always been my favorite. The quiet stillness of our surroundings can be so captivating.

    Title or Location: This was taken at the Bald Cypress Swamp off of the Natchez Trace
    My wife and I decided to take a leisurely ride Wednesday on the Trace. We stopped at the first location which was at the Tupelo Bald Cypress Swamp right off of the trail. We snapped a few photos and this was one of them. I'm using a Canon EOS R100 with the RF-S 18-45mm lense. This photo has not been edited. It is as it was when I took it.

    "Stormy flight". Western Cattle Egrets. There is a large colony of bird's at this location. where they nest each year. (Hundreds) They often take flight in a large group.

    I enjoyed a photowalk event with Laurie Gallant and the Sacramento Photography group visiting Horton's Iris Farm. I always bring my Infrared camera with me in hopes of getting some good IR shots. When I saw the old red truck, I HAD to shoot it in IR! This is one of my favorite shots from that day and will go into my portfolio for sure!

    Title or Location: Circular Quay Sydney Australia
    I was on holiday in Sydney and I went to Circular Quay to take some night time photos, when I saw that the opera house was lit up. I took a couple of photos ,then went to change my lens.By the time I had done this I saw the lights on the opera house had gone out. I then realised it was a rehearsal for Vivid a Sydney winter light show which takes place around the harbour.

    This was part of a video/photo assignment I did few years ago before my retirement about Florida Vultures, "nature clean-up crews". These are a very interesting and important creatures, they clean dead animals thus preventing the spread of serious diseases.
